Naming Conventions

Capitalization

Standardize on how to capitalize in names and labels, for example:

• Financial Summary rather than “Financial summary”
• Net Recurring Benefits rather than “Net recurring benefits”

Metric Names and Types

• Consider using consistent metrics names that describe the metric appropriately:
  • e.g. Net Recurring Benefits, Recurring OPEX Costs, Net OPEX Benefit
• Avoid using timeframes in a metric name as you may well be be displaying it in different timeframes (e.g. Net Recurring Benefit (month)).
• Consider creating metrics as numbers rather than a specific currency and include the currency in the metric name.  In most cases users don’t want to see the currency symbol in dashboards.
